So you know, I’m the guy who brews beer, writes this blog and most importantly… I’m the guy trying to teach other home brewers how to brew beer… better beer, that is…
But since you probably know that already, here’s what happens in the life of Jorge outside this blog…
For starters, I still spend nights pounding school textbooks finishing a Real Estate bachelor’s degree at ASU… if that is any hint, I live in the Phoenix Metro area and am a member of the Arizona Society of Home Brewers…
Occasionally, I’ll slap on hiking boots on my dog Jack and myself and head out to the trails at Camelback mountain… possibly one of the best hikes in town…

Besides brewing & drinking beer, and hiking, I like to strap on to my snowboard and hit the slopes…
Of course, living in AZ is not the same as fresh Washington snow powder and hops!…
… but we have great weather 8 months out of the year… pfff…
At least we do have some great breweries like Four Peaks, SunUp Brewing, Papago Brewing, and Sleepy Dog Saloon & Brewery among others…

Prior to moving to AZ, I spent a few years scrubbing the decks and helping keep the USS Henry M Jackson clean for almost four years…
That means I served in the US Navy as a Sonar Technician, which means I was the guy wearing the headphones listening to the ocean and helping steer the submarine clear of potential threats by identifying vessels such as war ships, submarines, cargo ships, whales and shrimp…
