Not to be confused with Fuggle US… This is per se the original hop grown by Mr. Richard Fuggle in 1875, which was later taken to the US (grown in Oregon and Washington state) and Slovenia, marketed as Styrian Golding…
This hop is known mostly for its woody (earthy) and somewhat spicy aroma characteristics… used mostly towards the end of the boil or for dry hopping… it used to be the dominant hop used by English brewers, but it’s now mostly known as an English aroma hop…. a good one at that…
Unlike the US version, this hop variety has slightly better storageability retaining about 70 to 80% of alpha acids after 6 months of storage at 70 F.
Just like the US version, they are somewhat resistant to downy mildew so get some rhizomes and plant your own…

This hop variety has been long known in English ale beer recipes for its robust hoppy characteristic… mostly found on bitters, ESB, but also some lagers.
Some possible substitutions could be Fuggle US hops, Willamette hops, and Styrian Golding hops… the US version is known to be a bit more fruity and not spicy like the others…
